The Guéranger Blog

Welcome to the Gueranger Blog! You have stumbled across the notebook I use to record my thoughts as I read through Dom Prosper Gueranger's 15-volume set, The Liturgical Year. I do not have any special expertise in liturgy, but I have some general knowledge of Catholic theology and an enthusiasm for Gueranger's magnum opus. Think of it as the Liturgical Year fan site!

Yup, that picture really is Dom Prosper Gueranger!

There is pretty much just one photograph of Dom Gueranger on the web, namely this one:

While I was too lazy to scan it in myself, I did find the original photo that everyone is posting. It is a centerpiece in Ernest Sevrin's Dom Gueranger et la Mennais: Essai de Critique Historique sur la Jeunesse de Dom Gueranger avec deux portraits (Libraire Philosophique: Paris, 1933), published in the same year as the last unabridged French edition of The Liturgical Year.

(The other portrait mentioned in the title is of Mennais.)
