It was interesting to learn that the Introit for Whit Tuesday was taken from 4Esdra, an apocryphal text. Dom Gueranger comments (IX,367) that it was frequently read by early Christians because of its "admirable instructions".
I suppose quotation from an apocryphal text should not be too surprising, since even the New Testament quotes the apocryphal 1Enoch (Jude 14-15).
But it does make me want to read 4Esdra.
