The Guéranger Blog

Welcome to the Gueranger Blog! You have stumbled across the notebook I use to record my thoughts as I read through Dom Prosper Gueranger's 15-volume set, The Liturgical Year. I do not have any special expertise in liturgy, but I have some general knowledge of Catholic theology and an enthusiasm for Gueranger's magnum opus. Think of it as the Liturgical Year fan site!

Dom Gueranger and Fontgombault

Canisius | 23 February, 2006 05:34

I had not realized before that Fontgombault is a branch house of Solesmes, which was founded by Gueranger. In other words, the monastery where my brothers-in-law have spent time learning about monasticism is basically a grandchild of Dom Gueranger. There's a lot more detail on that interesting fact HERE.

If I may point this out to any of my other brothers-in-law who may read this, the same site explains how one could join a fine Benedictine monastery in the United States.
